The school year is flying past! The students are reading and writing more and more each week! They are excited to learn more reading strategies to help the figure out tricky words. We have been looking for chunks of words we know to figure out a larger word. We are also listening for what would make sense in the sentence. The students have been doing a nice job listening for sounds in words. Keep reading every day and have your child read to you more often! In our next writing unit, we will be learning how to write a letter! We will start it off by writing letters to our friends. Try having your child write a letter to a family memeber and mail it out together! In math, we are working with 2-d shapes. Later in the month, we will move on to 3-d. The students will be able to identify the differences and compare the shapes we learn.During the month of March, we will enjoy getting ready for spring! The students will be looking for leprechauns for the first half of the month. During the first week, we will celebrate Read Across America. We will enjoy doing an author study on Dr. Seuss and having mystery readers in. We are excited to learn about our community. We will be learning about where we live and who works in a community. The students are excited to have guests in to share how they help in the community! At the end of the month, we will be ready for spring! The students will list the signs of spring and participate in many fun spring activities! If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Let me tell you about myself! I grew up in Gloucester Township. I knew I wanted to be a teacher in first grade and have never considered any other option. I am so thrilled to have been given the opportunity to encourage your child to learn! I love to read (Harry Potter being my favorite) and enjoy taking day trips often with my son. I have a spoiled cat named Zoey who is the stereotypical "scaredy cat". I recently celebrated my seventh wedding anniversary in August. I have seven godchildren; five of which are boys. I have one little boy named Justin! He is three and a half and still does not want to sleep at all! He loves to dance, make a mess, and doesn't stop running!
