Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Hello! My name is Jennifer Aversa and I will be your child’s third grade teacher. I am very happy to be working with you and your child this year. Third grade is a busy year. Your child will be learning many new concepts as well as building on and maintaining others. My goal as your child’s teacher is to help him/her have a positive learning experience throughout the year. I feel that your child’s success should not merely be based on their report card grades. Rather, I would like to see, as I’m sure you would too, your child meet many successes on a daily basis. Responsibility for their education will become more and more their own each year in their school career and will play such a large role in their meeting with success each day. Part of this responsibility is completing homework and coming to school prepared. While your child will need your reminder each day and your support in checking homework, they should be taking more of an initiative and responsibility when it comes to their school preparation. For this reason, I have tried to keep things as simple and as organized as possible.
Your child will need to take home their HAB and folder each night and bring it back to school each day. Aside from recording homework assignments, the HAB is a great way for us to communicate. If there is anything I need to let you know regarding your child’s academics or behavior, I usually write a note in the book. Please feel free to write any notes to me in the book as well. If you plan to pick your child up early or at the end of the day, please be sure to let the office know by sending a separate note to school that day. Each night your child’s HAB (Homework Assignment Book) needs to be checked and signed. Also, be sure to check your child’s HAB folder for important papers that have been sent home. Marked work can stay home, however any worksheet/homework must come back in the folder the following school day.
Your help is crucial to both your child’s success and outlook towards school. I am here to help. Please let me know of any concerns you may have. Thank you for your cooperation.Sincerely,
Mrs. Jennifer Aversa
