Mr. Andrew Mettler joined the East Greenwich Township leadership team as the Assistant Principal of Samuel Mickle School in September 2023.  He believes that successful leadership involves collaboration and inspiring others to do their best work. As the Assistant Principal, Mr. Mettler understands that a superior school community is built and sustained by setting clear expectations that align with the mission and vision of the East Greenwich Township Board of Education.

Mr. Mettler taught Middle School Mathematics from 2008 through 2023 for the Greenwich Township School District.  He is proud of the many roles that he served during these 15 years, including the time he spent as a basic skills teacher, co-teaching, and instructing 8th graders in a high school Algebra I level course.  Beyond the classroom, Mr. Mettler was very involved with  several school clubs and activities as he advised the National Junior Honor Society for 10 years, organized the 8th grade graduation ceremony and field trip, and participated in many school and districtwide committees, including ScIP and DEAC.  Mr. Mettler was recognized as the Greenwich Township Teacher of the Year on two separate occasions, and in 2018, he was awarded the New Jersey State Exemplary Educator Award for his positive impact on students, colleagues, and the school community. 

Andrew Mettler graduated from Rowan University in 2006, and earned his Masters in Mathematics Teaching and Learning from Drexel University in 2018.  Upon completion, Mr. Mettler returned to Rowan University in pursuit of a Principal Certificate, which he completed in Spring 2022.

Andrew Mettler, his wife Jennifer, and his two children Olivia and Ben, reside in Pitman, where they enjoy taking family bike rides, trying out new and local restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
