    In Social Studies this year, we will begin a new program called Young Citizens.

    Through Young Citizens, we will be learning about the following topics:

    • How New Jersey has developed over time
      • NJ Geography
      • NJ Native People
      • How NJ became a state
      • The rights & responsibilities of NJ people
      • who has helped shape NJ
    • What it is like to live in NJ today
      • How NJ's geography affects how we live
      • How our differences strengthen our state
      • What our state government does
      • What the major parts of NJ's economy are
      • How we can improve NJ
    • What life is like in the United States today
      • How people in our country live
      • What it's like for immigrants in the US
      • What our federal government does
      • How innovation has affected our country
      • how we can protect our environment 

    We will be using our textbook, "Thinkbook" notebooks, and student handouts to read and discuss these topics. Assessments will include chapter tests & projects (primary), notebook checks, projects, online quizzes (secondary), and homework/classwork (supportive).
