What's 4D learning??
LITERACY: We use the Scott Foresman series "Treasures" for our main anthologies. We will also complete various novel studies
throughout the year. Students will continue to use the Daily 5 in class, so having a full book basket at all times is critical!
WRITING: We will explore each mode of writing (Narrative, Opinion, Explanatory, Informative, Persuasive) as well as the 6+1
Writing Traits. Studenst will have frequent opportunities to write throughout each day, including Daily 5 time.
MATH: Students work from the Go Math series. We use the online component, Think Central, daily and this can be accessed \
from home using the link of my website. This site contains workbook pages, helpful videos and tools, reteaching, and
enrichment.
SOCIAL STUDIES: There will be many units covered throughout the year. Social Studies will focus on the geography of New
Jersey, the original people, early exploration, colonization, and the American Revolution. Our SCIENCE curriculum comes from
the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This is a very hands-on, experiment-driven, and project-based learning
approach. Units include: energy, waves, structures, and processes of organisms, rock formation and fossils, weathering and
Earth's systems, and natural resources and the human impact.
