Two complete sentences can be formed into a compound sentence by using a comma, followed by the word -and or -but
Example: I like cats. My sister likes dogs.
I like cats, and my sister likes dogs.
My cat is small. He weighs twenty pounds.
My cat is small , but he weighs twenty pounds.
Each Monday, the students will take a spelling pre-test and be tested on those words on Friday.
