Read Across America is almost here! To celebrate Read Across America in conjunction with National Reading Month, this year we have created a month-long reading challenge and weekly celebration days throughout the month of March.

We created a digital flyer that has our dress up days beginning on Thursday, March 2nd and will occur every Thursday throughout the month. 2023 EG Read Across America

We also created a Reading Passport (2023 Samuel Mickle RAA Reading Passport ) and paper copies will be distributed to every student next week to encourage daily reading. They will fill out their reading minutes each day on the calendar inside of it and total their minutes at the end of the month. Please add your initials to it before your child turns it in. They must return their passport to their homeroom teachers by Friday, March 31st. The homeroom in each grade level that reads the most minutes will win a prize.

The digital flyer will also be posted in our Google classrooms for students to easily access and click on a read aloud each week. If they answer the question on the back of the Reading Passport associated with the book each week, they have a chance to win a prize, if their passport is picked.

Just a reminder, we are holding our annual Read Across America Library Visitation again this year at Samuel Mickle. Every student is permitted to have ONE adult guest (18 or older) to join them during their regularly scheduled library class for the kickoff of our month-long Read Across America Celebration from Wednesday, March 1st - Tuesday, March 7th. *Please do not ask for a second person to attend as space is limited and no children are permitted. You must fill out a Google Form for each of your children.Click here: 2023 RAA Library Visitation Sign-up You will automatically be added to the list of visitors by completing this form.
